Double J Farms
Double J Farms offers Western and English Riding Lessons given by a Certified
riding instructor with over 9+ years of experience. Riding Lessons last 1 to 1 &
1/2 hours and are tailored to your interests and skill level. All lessons are well
rounded and include horse care and training tips. We have a great string of
lesson horses that can teach you everything from trail riding, dressage & show
jumping, barrel racing & pole bending, to western pleasure for the show ring.
We offer private or group lessons daily all year round weather permitting. We
like to start beginner riders with private lessons so they can get all the one on
one instruction necessary to master the basic riding skills. Group lessons are a
great way to meet other riders with simular intrests and will improve your
learning curve by allowing you to watch how other riders interact with the
instructor and their horses.
Have your own horse? Riding Lessons are a great way to improve your riding
skills and learn better ways to communicate with your horse. Our Riding
Instructor is also a Professional Horse Trainer so she can coach you through
training tips that can improve both you and your horse. She is willing to travel
and can bring lessons to you if you have a suitable place to ride at home.

WESTERN RIDING LESSONS


Western riding dates back to the days of the old west and is defined by the
western saddle which was designed for all day comfort and working cattle at
fast speeds. Western riding has become the most popular form of riding in the
USA. You will find it everywhere from the show ring, ranches and rodeos to
the your local trails and saddle clubs.
We prefer to start beginners with western riding. The western saddles design
gives stability to the rider as they learn proper balance and how to ride with
an independent seat. Our western riding lessons are designed to allow you to
learn at your own pace and will help every rider build confidence as they learn
to ride the horses different gaits.
Once you master the basics you will be ready to move on to our more
advanced riding lessons:
- You can head out on one of our guided trail ride lessons at the Golden
Horseshoe Saddle Club. We combine a 1/2 hour arena lesson, were you
will learn advanced skills like opening gates from horseback, with 1
hour of guided trail riding.
- Group riding lessons are a great way to learn more advanced skills and
meet other riders with similar interests.
- Want to compete in horse shows? Would you like to win ribbons,
trophy's, and prize money. Learn the skills necessary to compete
successfully in Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Halter
Showmanship, and Trail Classes. We offer horse show packages that
include horse leasing for the day or weekend, transportation, and
coaching to allow you to compete in local open or 4H horse shows.
- Is speed your thing? Learn how to Barrel Race or Pole Bend. Then try
out your skills at local speed shows where you can compete for ribbons,
trophy's and prize money. We offer show packages that include horse
leasing, transportation, and coaching for the day or weekend.
- Learn to play horse soccer. This great group lesson activity is exciting
and fast paced. Horse soccer is played with 2 teams of 3-5 riders and is
a great way to practice and hone your riding skills.
- Like to go camping? We offer Camping Trips that include overnight
camping with arena and trail riding.
Would you like to learn more about caring for and riding horses? Double J
Farms also offer Horsemanship Clinics, Kids Weekend Horsemanship Camps,
and Kids After School Horse Club Programs. All clinics are open to anyone age
7 or older interested in learning more about horse feed and care, training, or
riding horses. Our Kids Weekend Horsemanship Camps are open to children
7-18 and held June-Sept. Kids After School Programs are open to all school age
children and held in 6 week sessions Sept-Nov and Mar-May. They meet once

Riding horses is great low impact aerobic exercise that not only helps you stay
fit but can improve your balance and core strength as well. Learning to ride and
care for horses can be every empowering and motivating for children. Studies
have proven the old saying "The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a
man." Working with horses can teach children important life skills and lessons
such as teamwork, compassion, unconditional love, and how to set and achieve
goals.

English riding has been around for hundreds of years and is the most popular
form of riding in the world. The English saddle is light weight and allows the
rider the most freedom of movement while riding. Plus provides close contact
with the horse for better communication and que's.
Once you have mastered the basics riding western you can greatly improve
your riding skills by learning to ride English. The stirrups are slightly shorter
when riding English, which changes your seat position and allows for more
freedom of body movement. Riding English is a great way to improve your
balance and coordination plus helps you develop a more independent and
secure seat. Once you have mastered the basics of riding English you will be
ready to move on to more advance English Riding Lessons:
- Learn the Basics of riding Dressage, one of the most respected and
widely used forms of training and riding horses.
- Learn how to Show Jump over stadium fences or cross country jumps.
- Learn the basics of English Pleasure and English Equitation for the show
ring.
- Would you like to compete in horse shows? We offer show packages that
include horse leasing, transportation, and coaching for the day or
weekend. You can compete to win Trophy's, Ribbons, and Prize Money at
local Dressage, Open Pleasure, 4H Fairs and Breed Shows. We want to
see our students excel in the show ring and are willing to help you all the
way to the State 4H Fair or a National Show Title.
Horse Leasing is available to our advanced students. We want to make riding
as enjoyable and fun for you as possible. We realize a once or twice weekly
riding lesson my not be enough riding time for you so we are offering daily,
weekly, and partial or full monthly horse leasing. You can lease one of our
lesson horse and treat it like it is yours during the lease period, you can ride as
often and long as you like. You can even take them to horse shows or trail
riding with Double J Farms prior approval.
